About Us

The Florida Food Policy Council (FLFPC) is a statewide, community-centered organization advancing policies that strengthen Florida’s food system from the ground up.

We work at the intersection of food, land, climate, health, and economic opportunity bringing together farmers, community leaders, advocates, researchers, and policymakers to shape solutions that reflect Florida’s realities.

FLFPC focuses on turning community knowledge into policy action. Through collaboration, research, convenings, and advocacy, we support policies that protect farmland, expand food access, strengthen local economies, and ensure the people most impacted help shape the decisions that affect them.

Our work recognizes a simple truth:
Food systems are built through policy and policy should be shaped by community leadership.

Our Priorities

“Our work focuses on policy areas that shape how food is grown, distributed, accessed,

and governed across Florida.”

➤ Food Access & Affordability
Advancing policies that ensure every Floridian can access healthy, affordable, and culturally relevant food. We work to address systemic barriers that shape food availability, pricing, and neighborhood investment.

➤ Climate Resilience
Strengthening Florida’s food system against climate impacts by supporting resilient agriculture, disaster preparedness, and policies that protect farmers, supply chains, and communities from increasing environmental risks.

➤ Land & Community Governance
Protecting farmland, supporting community ownership models, and advancing policies that keep land in the hands of the people who grow and feed Florida.

➤ Food & Farmworker Justice
Promoting equitable labor conditions, economic opportunity, and policy protections for farmworkers and food system workers who sustain Florida’s agricultural economy.

➤ Community-Led Policy
Centering farmers, workers, and local communities in decision-making processes — ensuring lived experience informs the policies shaping Florida’s food future.
